Why memorize?

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  2Corinthians 10:5

Whenever I take on big assignments from God–am mostly certain that I am following His will–the more likely I am to need to protect my mind.  “From what?” you may ask.

We all need to protect our minds from:

  • Lies of the evil one (designed to keep you immobilized)
  • I can’t statements (you can’t but God can)
  • Our own negative self-talk (“I don’t have anything relevant to say,” or “I am not enough.”)

Under the Scripture Memory Week by Week page, you will find a weekly scripture verse or passage to meditate on, memorize and take captive those negative thoughts using the sword of His Word to do it:  scripture verses that remind us Who is our “enough” and gives our words relevance as long as we let Him speak through us.

If you are like me and know that the Word of the Lord is power, as is His very name, then check out some of the verses that have gotten me through many dark days.  If you ever struggle as I have when trying to live this Christian life, I hope these verses will help you to live it fully to the glory of God.
